Jim Negri retired on June 30, 2015, after serving 6 years as Superintendent of the Castro Valley Unified School District. He previously served as Superintendent of the Acalanes Union High School District (2004-2009) and the Mountain View Whisman School District (2002-2004). For 12 years including 5 years as the chair, Jim served on the Planning Committee for the Executive Leadership Center (ELC), the professional development program for California superintendent presented, offered by the Association of California School Administrators (ACSA).
During his 11 years in the Pleasanton Unified School District, Jim held the following positions: Deputy Superintendent, Assistant Superintendent for Educational Services and Director of Curriculum and Staff Development as well as being certified as a strategic planner. Other administrative positions during his career include Director of Curriculum Alignment and Curriculum Appraisal (San Ramon Valley Unified School District) and Assistant Principal – High School (San Ramon Ramon Valley Unified School District and Bishop O’Dowd High School).
Jim currently teaches for Association of California School Administrators (ACSA) in the Superintendents Academy and the Business Officials Academy. In the past, he has taught in the following ACSA Academies: Leading the Leaders; Principals; Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; and Co-Administrators. Jim taught for 12 years in the Educational Leadership Program (ELP) at St. Mary’s College of California as well as several teacher education programs in the Bay Area.
